Electric Vehicle Parts For CitiCars, ComutaCars, Homebuilts and Conversions!
CitiCars and ComutaCars were build from the early 1970's through the mid 1980's by Sebring and Sebring Autocycle corporation. Several different vehicles were built tht included the CitiCar, ComutaCar, Postal Van, ComutaVan, Zipper and Various custom vehicles. The CitiCar was the earlies vehicle and ran on as little as 24 volts and up to 48 volts depending on when it was produced. It sported a 3 horsepower eletric motor and an A.M. radio as one of a very few options. The ComutaCar was an upgrade to the CitiCar with a 6 horsepower motor with forced air cooling, easier open doors with rear flip up rear glass and three different axle configurations. The ComutaVan was a government version of the the ComutaVan designed for the U.S. Post office. Very few of these vehicles survived the failed postal experiment. The zipper was a thre wheeled electric designed specifically to be towed by recreational vehicles. This project was doomed when laws were implemented requiring operators of three wheeled vehicles (even fully enclosed vehicles) to wear helmits! Sebring also built pickup trucks and various other custom vehicles.
In the early 1990's our Parent company, Assembled Products, Inc was building battery chargers for Sebring when what was left of Sebring was bought out by Chrysler. For a short period of time Sebring converted Dodge colts to electric before their funding was cancelled, this time shutting the company down for good. Assembled Products was able to purchase much of the inventory from Sebring, and thus was born Nu-kar electric vehicles. Assembled Products and Basset press also purchaed the copyrights of the original service manuals and what was left of the documentation. Now known as E.V. Performance, we provide parts for all kinds of electric vehicles along with technical engineering support. EV Performance also offers the only legitimately licensed edition of the service manual complete with our own notes and schematics. Not only do we provide new, old stock parts from Sebring's orignal inventory but we also fabricate and source hundreds of other parts.
We have now integrated a small metal fabrication facility. In house machining equipment includes an Atlas lathe, Bridgeport mill, shear and brake. Welding equipment includes torches, two Lincon Mig Welders, Lincoln Box welder and Lincoln 225 TIG welder. Presses, grinders, buffers and a 48" sandblasting cabinet round out our equipment capabilties.
