Here is a neat new product. We all know that Electric Vehicles drive motors generate heat... a lot of heat! Most electric cars use a cooling fan triggered by a pre-set temperature thermostat. The blower turns on when the thermostat reaches the pre-set temp limit and turn off a few degrees below that limit. Think about it, this means that the motor is always operating at maximum temperature. This is tough on the motor bearings and windings as well as the other drivetrain components connected to the motor!

 

Here is a convenient solution: Power-STAT! Your fan is still triggered by the thermostat, but Power-STAT keeps your fan on for up to three minutes extra (beyond where the thermostat has already turned off) to make sure your motor cools down. Totally automatic, now your motor's cooling system will bring you motor temperature significantly lower before turning off! The amount of extra time is dependent on how long your thermostat called for heat, no more guessing how hot the motor is with the manual override! What is even better, your fan will continue to operate even after you've turned off the igntion... way better than having to wait for your motor to cool off before you can leave your car!

 

Two systems are available, "ground control" for systems that switch ground to turn the fan on and off and "positive control" for systems that turn the hot wire on and off. Both systems are for 12 volt operated fans and can handle up to 10 amps. (Citicar and ComutaCar systems typically have a negative controlled system unless they have been re-wired differently) One of these systems will work for any homebuilt, N.E.V., or production electric car... virtually any vehicle with a fan-cooled electric motor.
